Hello Aspirant

The government of India provides minority status to those communities which have very low population in India , their needs and requirement are  solved by a dedicated ministry called Ministry of minority affairs , it lets Jain community control its own temple and religious place and the government wont interfere.

This minority status will not provide them reservation in government exams  and they will not get any extra quota reservation due to this Minority status.

Hope this helps.

Hello Mam,

Jainism is generally considered as a distinct minority in India, In the year 2014, this religion was granted a minority status by the government of India under section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities act. The states like Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan provide, minority quota for the people in Jain religion.

The term Jain minority meaning is the low population of Jain in India. The term Jain minority has been awarded to Jain community by Indian government on 27 January 2014. There are only 7000000 Jain people living in India which is very low in number that's why minority status is provided to Jain people community. But there are only 15 States which allow and consider Jain people as minors in India. I am mentioning below the name of these states:

  1. Maharashtra
  2. karnatak
  3. Gujarat
  4. Madhya Pradesh
  5. Uttar Pradesh
  6. Jharkhand

Hello

Hope you are doing well

Jainism is considered to be a legally distinct religion in India. On 27 January 2014, the Government of India explicitly awarded the status of a "minority religion" to the Jain community in India, as per Section 2(c) of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Act (NCM), 1992.

As of now, Jains are regarded as minorities in some States, including Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Jains, according to the 2001 Census, make up 0.4 per cent of the country's population.

Best of luck
