Hii,

The salivary glands in mammals are exocrine glands that produces saliva through a system of ducts. Humans have three types of salivary glands that differ in type of secreation they produce:

1. Parotid gland - produces a serous, watery secretion.

2. Submaxillary gland - produces a mixed serous and mucous secreation.

3. Sublingual glands - secrete a saliva that is predominantly muscous in character.

Greetings,

Glands that discharge a fluid secretion and especially saliva into the mouth cavity and that in humans comprise large compound racemose glands including the parotid glands, the sublingual glands, and the submandibular glands.

The underlined words are the 3 pair of  glands in the human mouth cavity that secrete saliva. In humans, between 0.5 and 1.5 litres of saliva are produced every day. We normally swallow it or spit it outside.

Our saliva acts as lubricant and it helps in easy swallow of food and help our taste buds to enjoy the food / drink.

Thank you
