Protoplasm is a mixture of small molecules like ions, amino acids, monosaccharides and water, along with macromolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and polysaccharides. Protoplasm is also known as the living cell which is surrounded by plasma membrane. In eukaryotes the protoplasm which is surrounding the cell nucleus is known as the cytoplasm and the nucleus present inside is called as nucleoplasm.
