In short, OT Technicians work atOperation Theatre of hospitals, Intensive Care Units as well as Emergency Departments. Their main task is to assist Doctors and Surgeons during surgery or emergency procedures.

Operation theatre technicians are allied healthcare professionals. They play an integral part in the smooth functioning of ICUs, CCUs and Operation theatres in hospitals and clinics.

Government and private hospitals and clinics having surgical wards are known to recruit operation theatre technicians. After higher studies, one may also don the role of an instructor or teacher at relevant training institutes.

Starting salary depends on a number of different factors. Prominent factors are- profile of the employer, employee skills, aptitude and grades attained by the employee. OT technicians may earn around 10-15k Rupees per month at start. In case of Government job, salary will be based on Pay Band and scale. Abroad, in developed countries, the pay scale is much higher than it is in India.
