Hello Aspirant!
The word Taxonomy is derived from Greek words : taxis - arrangement, nomos - law
(i.e. the law of arrangement of living organisms).

Carolus Linnaeus is regarded as the 'Father of Taxonomy'.

Taxonomy is the branch of biological science that deals with naming, description and classification of all living organisms.
This classification is based on behavioral, genetic and biochemical differences.

Characterization, identification, and classification are the key processes involved in taxonomy.

Based on their characteristic traits, organisms are classified into different scientific categories or taxa, namely -

Kingdom (eg. Animalia)
Phylum (eg. Chordata)
Class (eg. Mammalia)
Order (eg. Primata)
Family (eg. Hominidae)
Genus
Species (eg. H. sapiens)

(taking human beings as the reference species above).

Organisms are arranged into different taxa (singular : taxon) mainly based on their morphological and anatomical similarities and differences in comparison to the other closely related and already discovered species.

Feel free to ask in the comment section if you have any more queries.

I hope this answer will be helpful to you.

Hello,
.
In simple taxonomy in means naming the animals and plants according to there groups with the system. Not only about animals and plants, the things which are placed according to the ground or a particular subject it's called taxonomy. For example a Library, books in the library are arranged with the subject wise/standard wise/alphabet  wise so here Library followes certain system which is called taxonomy. Where in biology it's done according to biological animals/plant's
