Yes it is possible to change your branch after you join NIT.Your performance in the first year will judge this,and according to this you will be able to change your branch.But the chemical engineering is not a better option at NIT surathkal according to many alumni of the institute.They even tell that mining at NIT surathkal is better than chemical.So choose wisely.Thank You.
