Approximately 70k-80k students apply for IMU CET every year as it is a national level exam to take admission in merchant navy college. From this large number approximately 40k-50k students take admission every year in different colleges available in India.

To see on the basis of competition, competition is very high. If you get a rank below 10k then you will get good and high scope available college. So you have to study hard and make a good performance to score that much low rank.

To secure it you have to solve the numericals and understand the concepts. Try to solve as many numericals you can and make your basics strong.
