Dear Student,

the hydrogen ion concentration is generally expressed in pH, pH is the scale of measuring how acidic or how basic an aqueous solution is. Hence in a neutral solution the hydrogen ion (H+) and the hydroxyl ion (OH-) concentration are equal and each is equal to 10^ -7.
