Placement salaries in Industrial/Product Design depend on the institute and degree level. For B.Des graduates, freshers usually start between Rs. 3–8 LPA, but top institutes offer higher averages: IITs (Delhi, Bombay, Guwahati) around Rs. 15–20 LPA, NIDs about Rs. 8–12 LPA, and good private universities Rs. 6–10 LPA. The highest packages have reached Rs. 90 LPA at IIT Guwahati and over Rs. 30 LPA at NID Ahmedabad.

M.Des graduates generally earn more due to specialisation, with averages near Rs. 14–15 LPA nationally, Rs. 23.5 LPA at IIT Bombay (IDC), and about Rs. 15.6 LPA at IIT Delhi.
