Generally automobile Engineers get placed at an average salary of 5-6 lakhs which is exactly what most of the companies like tata motors, maruti etc are paying. The salary of engineers at R and D are different they are paid more like yamaha pays about 12 lakhs of salary for fresher in r and d from normal colleges. But again it all depends on your calibre you may enter the company with small package but later on with your calibre you can increase it.
