Deemed university is a status which is provided to the universities in which they can decide their own curriculum and fee structure upto a limit and Deemed status is given to the university after considering quality of education, Infrastructure, placement and faculty. It is mainly awarded to high performing institutes.

Central Universities are set up as per the Act of Parliament and are administered by the Department of Higher Education, which is under the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.
