Dry summer climate is also called Mediterranean climate. It is characterized by hot , dry summers and mild wet winters. This type of climate is maximum is seen in Mediterranean basin. The main cause of dry summer climate is subtropical ridge which extends northwards during  summer and migrates  south during winter due to increasing north -  south pressure differences.
