Its essential to check the paper pattern or making scheme of <a href="https://www.eduncle.com/iit-jam-exam">IIT JAM exam 2018</a>. By this you will get an idea related to which type of questionswill be asked in the exams.

There are 3 different types of questions asked in IIT JAM. There will be total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks.

1 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

2 Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)

3 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions

1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) :

Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. There will be 30 questions in the Test which will be based on MCQ. Which will carry one or two marks each. There will be 1/4 minus marking on each wrong answer.

2. Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) :

Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the four given choices. There will be 10 questions in the Test which will be based on MSQ. Which will carry 2 marks for each. There is no minus marking.

3. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions :

For each NAT type question, the answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. No choices will be shown for these type of questions. There will be 20 questions in the Test which will be based on NAT. Which will carry one or two marks each. There is also no minus marking.
