It's an inter-disciplinary branch, handled by faculties of ICE & Chemical Departmant. Earlier the degree was awarded by the Chemical Department. Now-a-days it is being awarded by ICE dept. But I know two people very well who were affliated to this department.

All I know, it will be bit difficult. A Electrical or Instrumentation student finds difficult subjects in Chemical Engineering Same too goes for Chemical Engineering Student

Coming to Placement, It is BAD Only if you are in top ladder, then you can make very good Companies (GE, ALSTOMwith package above 7 LPA). Otherwise you may not get any job. Small companies rarely allow students to sit in place.
