Dear Shruti,

This is a question every law aspirant asks and same is the case with you. Any corporate lawyer will struggle to get a job at the very first place because of the kind of competition that exists in the market but the salary ranges from firm to firm.

If you get into a top law firm of the country say Khaitan and Co. their base salary will range something to a maximum of 13.7 lakhs, however, people working at Khaitan can earn up to Rs. 20 Lakhs per annum.

If you get into any other top law firm the salary may range from around 8 lakhs per annum to 14 lakhs per annum.

If you get into a tier II firm the salary may range from 3 lakhs to 7 lakhs depending upon the skills and the pay scale of the firm.

A corporate lawyer in a tier-1 law firm can expect between 11–15 lakhs p.a. But if you go for  small & new law firms then you can expect 3 to 6 Lakh per annum as a fresher.
