Second year is just the beginning of your core subjects…you would hardly have a feel of Civil Engg by then. The ideal time to start with GATE prep is beginning of 6th sem. You would have covered some important core subjects & will also get enough time for preparation.

If you join any coaching institute, follow the classes regularly & make good notes. Even if you dont join coaching & rely on self-study, I would suggest to get notes of some good coaching institute xeroxed & study from them. These notes will also help you in college exams.

Focus well on fundamental and revise all concepts thoroughly in 1year.

Appear for nore than 30 mock exams and analyse weak areas, spend more tine on that and fevise formulae for same.

Make all weak areas your strong ones.

Give more than 10 mock exams in last 5months.
