Percentile means each of the 100 equal groups into which a population can be divided according to the distribution of values of a particular variable. which means if u have a marks of 99% nd other 5 student also have 99% marks out of total 100 students than you will have a percentile of top 7% .And person scoring 98 will have a 8th percentile.
