Hello ,
As you know a trait is a type of character which can inherit from one generation to another , and contrasting traits are the traits which can inherit opposing character.
So, Mendel has selected the 14 true breeding plants in a pair of 7 means 7 plants have dominant character and 7 have recessive and each pair has only one different character (contrasting trait) and other characters where same , like
in First pair the contrasting trait is Height one is Tall and other is dwarf.
Hope it helps !
