Sub caste is a division of caste. National backward commission has a list of category in which caste and subcaste enlisted according to their profession and and by birth relation. And subcaste also divided on the basis of the ancestral profession of the candidate and living area of the state. To define the category there is tally between the state list of caste and subcaste and in the central list of caste and subcaste.

Brahmins are designed as Varna and caste also. Suryupari, kanya kubjo, and Gaur Brahmin are Brahmins cast. Shrimali, Purohit, pushkarna Brahmins are sub caste
