CSE and IT are the trending branches of Engineering right now.

Since, coding and programming is better covered in CSE as compared to IT. The Computer Science Engineers get placed as Software Engineers, Web designers, Application engineers, etc. You may get government job in various firms through GATE. 

IT engineers are always updated with latest technology trends. Since programming is also covered marginally in this field, you may get similar jobs as compared to CSE branch but still IT is less preferred than CSE.

                   When we hear about the CSE or IT engineering, the first thing comes to our mind as job roles is IT sectors. But in some aspects that's not true. CS engineers can work for IT sectors as well as government organisations. But most of the cases we just thing about IT sectors, mass recruiters as well as product based companies. But we can join also government organisations like - intelligence beauro, banks, psu(sometimes they are looking for Cs engineers as well) etc. Yes the job vacancy is too low, but chances are there.
Also IT industry is always in your hand. & for CS engineers also works as freelancer. In the field of technology, there is no bound for Cs engineers. & few new technologies are going high these days.
So, you have huge scope & most demanding stream for these days.
