As per your question, i would like to tell you that generally the questions are from 10th level in HCS (pre) exams. And some topics are also from 10+2 level. I will tell you the concepts on which the questions will come. These are as follows :

• Chemistry - chemical properties of substances and their uses , chemical name of important substances like plaster of paris etc,chemical and physical change , properties of gases , surface chemistry , chemistry in everyday life, daily science.
• Physics - S.I units, motion,sound,light,wave , energy, electricity.
• Biology - important and interesting facts about human body parts,nutrition in animals and plants , diseases and their cause like bacteria.

As per your query,the level of exam is moderate ,

If you pass in prelims then you can go for mains,

As you asked the level of general science questions,

For general science there are three subject - biology, chemistry and physics

So you have to focus more on 10+2 studies than 10th for this exam.
