First if all, the eligibility criteria of UPSC is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, there is no specific aggregate required in this case, you need to attain 21 years and can apply even in the final year of graduation, now coming to your questions there are two paths, if you're wholly and solely focused on cracking UPSC and no other exam for that matter, choosing humanities at 10+2 and graduation level can help you, however if you have other aspirations of pursuing a career in the field of science or commerce then also it's fine, there are many toppers who come from diverse backgrounds such as medicine, engineering, CA etc they have completed their graduation, work in their relative field,earned few years of experiences and later on appeared for UPSC, so you can see it doesn't matter which stream you belong the preparation and planning more or less remain the same.

First point is there no particular criteria regarding subject for appearing UPSC. Student from any field any stream can crack UPSC. You can take any subject MPC, MEC, CEC, BIPC. All the students are eligible
