Hey there,

Congratulations for the results. According to all the information you have provided regarding the rank and category, your son has a fair chance of getting into NITs.
You can apply in HS quota in Karnataka.

Or you can apply in other NITs as well.

Hello
As you know that there is about 17-20 thousand seats in nits only and competetion is very tough.
In this acquired rank ; it will be not possible for your son to get admission in good nits .
He may have chance in low ranking nits with non core branch in spot rounds.:

Nit Srinagar
Nit goa
Nit Uttarakhand

Etc
But rarely very less chance.
