Hello Harsh,

The IITs have started a procedure called Spot Rounds that result in the filling if seats by 100%. This is a procedure that allows the institutions to fill up the vacant seats after rounds of counselling. The IITs that would be taking part include -

• IIT MADRAS

• IIT GUWAHATI

• IIT KHARAGPUR

• IIT BOMBAY

• IIT DHANBAD

• IIT ROORKEE

• IIT HYDERABAD

In order to get selected for the spot round admission you need to attend the normal counselling and not be selected in any of the rounds or lists. After this you need to appear for the spot round admission at the allotted time and date. It is different than other rounds because -

1- you have to pay before getting a seat

2- in certain cases, if you are not allotted a seat you will not be refunded the money back

3- you might have to let go of any seat that was allotted to you earlier

I hope this helped.

All the best!!
