First of all, there is no such thing as best branch or any branch superior over the other. Every branch had its own uniqueness and impact over the world and its functioning.

CSE branch mainly focuses on the software parts of the computer industry and all the developments and innovations in that industry. You will have to work with a laptop preparing new and constructive codes for the betterment of the software world

Next, AI ML is a specialization branch of CSE and mainly focuses on the robotics and the automation part of the industry. It also consists of some hardware embedded programming along with the software impact

Now, ECE is more inclined towards the hardware part of the computer and electronics industry and mainly comprises of embedded programming, microproccessors and microcontrollers.

Now,, you will have to decide your interest and you inclination towards a certain domain or industry and work passionately towards that domain and attain success.

Both are core branches and best in their own way, though I have tried to compare both of them here :-

• Course Structure :- In ECE you will study core subjects (Electronics segment) in deep, there are two subjects which are related to programming & algorithm (Data Structure & C ) and one subject which is related to networking (Data Communication Network). So basically you will gain expertization in your core subjects & will learn the basics of programming, algorithm & networking.In
• CSE you can gain expertization in Programming, algorithm, software & web development related subjects. Also basics of networking can be learn there. So Course structure wise ECE is more oriented towards electronics and CSE is oriented towards programming while basics of few other subjects can be learn in both the branches easily.
• Laboratories: ECE students generally works in both hardware and software labs during their under-graduation course while CSE students only mostly works in software labs. So ECE is hardware oriented too.
• Difficulty: Both are pretty much the same level but ECE being a little difficult as you have to mug some things up...but it will largely depend upon the attitude you possess while learning the subjects...mugging up gets really easy if you practically understand the thing and then try to remember.

• Job Diversity :- If I talk about ECE, students from this branch have slightly upper hand over CSE students in terms of job diversity. Most of the ECE graduate prefer to go for Core domain job (Electronics Domain), Software Jobs, Networking Job & in management related jobs.
• While most of the CSE students prefer to go only for Software related jobs & Networking Jobs. Management related fields are also open for them. Although if you will see in terms of job diversity than you will find that there are so many open fields, in which CS & EC both branch students can go but at a larger scale you will find that majority of students (From CS & EC both branch) only prefer to work in specified 2 or 3 job sections. They even don’t try in other fields.
• Placement Packages: Obviously this is something which draw the attention of most of the students. Packages mostly depends on your college and than on your skills & profile. The one misconception which most of the people have is that only CSE students can get hefty packages. No, that’s not right. Any student from any branch can get the same amount of CTC which most of the CS students get, if that student is good enough to solve industry related problems through programming languages. So irrespective of your branch if you have sound knowledge of programming than you can easily get a good job with decent package in big tech company.
• Government Jobs: Here CSE students lags in some aspect. There are some government jobs in which CSE students can not apply. While ECE students can apply for every job.
• Higher Studies: If you have completed your Bachelor’s from ECE than you can do your masters from both CS or EC. But in case of CSE its not possible. I am only talking about International masters degree. In India you can write GATE exam from any branch and if you secure a good rank than you can opt the subject of that branch for your masters.
• Start-ups: It’s easy for CSE students to work on their own venture compare to ECE students. Generally software oriented startups requires less money in their beginning phase compare to hardware oriented startups. “That is why in our country number of software based startups are quite high”.

Conclusion: Both the branches are pretty awesome! and interesting...
it depends on you inclination...
ECE and CSE are inter-related...one cannot survive without the other...
