• For Modern India:- NCERT by Bipan chandra, Spectrum, Rajiv ahir.
• For Post-Independence:-BipanChandra's India since independence & 12th political science NCERT
• For modern Indian history better to for spectrum

If you cover all these books to then only the history will be completed in a prescribed manner.
