Both computer science and engineering (CSE)  and a CSE Specialization have their own merits. However which would be best for you depends on your interests. I can explain you in brief about the two.

So a general CSE  is basically a broader concept. It provides a deep understanding of computer science topics including data, structure, programming languages, software development, computer networks, databases and more.You can have more career options .

On the other hand a CSE specialization focuses on a particular area of study such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, data science or software engineering.  You can have expertise in a particular domain. In this path you are clear with what you are doing and what you'll do next because you don't have multiple career options.

So if you want be versatile and want to have knowledge about multiple topics a CSE  degree will work out for you and if you have a clear mindset and interest regarding what you want to pursue futher in life go for a specialization.

According to me, both are good. If you want, you can pursue your specialization course along with you general CSE. CSE is basically opted if you want to study about a range of subjects like before setting on a certain specialization. CSE specialization provide you growth opportunities, it will lead you to a position where you can gain better experience and earn a higher salary as compared to general CSE. Although it clearly depends on you, which ever you want to opt for and I know you'll choose the best.
