Which branch is better Mechanical or Electronics and communications?

It depends on your interest & capability. Both are the good & top branches.

Mechanical engineering is about machines and its design and automobiles and it deals with concepts such as mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, kinematics, structural analysis, fluid mechanics with their applications in Automotive Sector, Power Sector, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sector, Aerospace. Electronics and Communication  is basically related to electronic devices and its working. Electronics and Communication involves the transmission of information across channels like coax cable or optical fiber. It also deals with designing equipments such as routers, switches, fiber optics and electronic switching systems.

Career prospects

An electronic engineer can find a job in Consumer electronics manufacturing organization , Telecommunication & IT industries, Health care equipment manufacturing.

Mechanical engineers have to deal with concepts such as mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, kinematics, structural analysis, fluid mechanics with their applications in Automotive Sector, Power Sector, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sector, Aerospace.

Choosing any branch depends on your interest. ECE has wider scope in comparison to other branches. It has good scope in terms of placements.
