yes, you can start your career with Computer Science engineering degree to become a game developer/designer.start with fundamental programming and try some peculiar programmings.check any game studio website to know what is the qualification to enter into a entry level programmer.develop your skill and rock in your field.if you're really interested in it, then go for it.

Additionally, programs might mandate that students take lab courses in which they develop their own software or game.

But going through any btech course doesn't make you game programmer ready. Now a days degree is going worthless.

Take online courses in edx, coursera, nptel, udacity, udemy etc.
