Hello Akshay  !!!

Greetings!!!

Mechanical engineering and software engineering both are very popular courses among the engineering and are also very demanding courses of Engineering but in the recent era the number of colleges offering this courses has increased considerably but number of the jobs does not and the quality of engineer produced is reduced greatly therefore there are many issues going on in the field of Engineering and a lot of aspirants are interested in engineering are unable to find which option is good for them therefore here is a quick comparison of mechanical engineering and software engineering or also known as computer science and engineering.

Most of the students during preparation for entrance exams thinks that software engineering is a boring job because a employee needs to sit in front of the computer and write code continuously and think that mechanical is a field work job and will enjoy this job and will create new machines heavy machineries but this is not the true fact in the present Era when most of the jobs are performed by the computers so even if you go for the field of mechanical engineering  there also you will be solving many problems and designing many things on the computer isself therefore you don't have to think like this, the time has changed and it is a fact that any engineer has to work on the computer nowadays ,this was all about the working culture and lifestyle of the engineer .Most of the software engineers get jobs in the metro cities like Bangalore or Pune but as a mechanical engineer you may be located in to Pan India location therefore if you are a guy who is interested in living in metro cities then definitely you should go for a software engineering.

In terms of jobs and salary offered as a fresher not doubt you will earn huge chunk of money in the field of software engineering because if you do software engineering from prestigious Institute such as Indian institutes of Technology then you're starting salary maybe as high as seven digits but it does not mean that mechanical engineering students does not earn money mechanical engineers also earn money but the field requires experience therefore as a fresher it is very hard to earn money comparible to software engineers therefore if you are someone who enjoy money and love money then you should go for software engineering because the future is bright in terms of money.

The jobs offered in software industry is mainly by the private sectors and many companies are growing in India and many multinational companies are opening their offices in India therefore there is a quiet good scenario in the near future in the software industry because there are many startups are also growing up in the India so the jobs will not end but in case of mechanical engineering there is also option in the government jobs you can appear for Indian Engineering services or graduate aptitude test for engineering and get a government job which is not quite possible in case of software engineering because the number of positions are not plenty and salary offered is very low compared to private sectors.

One of the flexibility in software engineering course is that once you complete your degree and get some industry experience you can start freelancing if your situation does not permit you to work in a different location then you can start work from home and there are many companies which allows employees to work from home if they choose to do so so this is a very great flexibility in terms of location therefore if you are someone who situation does not allow you to go beyond your cities then you should consider software engineering because it is very flexible compared to mechanical engineering in terms of location.

Both software engineering and Mechanical engineering are very popular bro courses and are offered by almost all the engineering institutes in the country there for you can choose the college of your interest to pursue discourses butbo for a brighter future you should consider the prestigious colleges switches Indian institutes of Technology because your schools will remain same but the salary offered will be not out as compared to a normal college therefore it will just boost your salary and will give you a first and opportunity in terms of jobs.

So this is a brief comparison of software engineering and Mechanical engineering you can consider all the points and depending upon your case you can take decision

Hope this helps

All the best.
