In NITs, top campuses are unlikely for general category candidates, but newer or North-Eastern NITs remain realistic. You may get branches like Bioengineering or Chemical in NIT Agartala, Mechanical or Civil in NIT Meghalaya, and Mining/Metallurgy or Mechanical in NIT Raipur (especially through home-state quota). Civil or Mechanical may be available in NIT Puducherry, while NIT Sikkim, Manipur, and Mizoram can sometimes offer ECE or even CSE in later counselling rounds.
