The salary for an assistant professor is decided by UGC according to the criteria's set forth by them. It does not depend on the college ,the salary depends on qualification and experience. Any college that is UGC approved or government aided or that comes under government have to implement the 7th pay scale.

The pay depends on the academic level of the position.

Assistant professorship itself has 3 levels.

Assistant professor academic level 10 has a pay scale of 57,700- 1,82,400.

Assistant professor senior scale academic level 11 has a pay scale of  68,900- 2,05,500.

Assistant professor selection grade academic level 13 has a pay scale of 79,800 - 2,11,500.
