Hello,

If you are interested and good at programming and mathematics and want to see yourself as a Software Developer in the future, then go ahead with MCA.

If you are just interested, but not good at programming, and still want to see yourself as a Software Developer in future, then opt MCA but you'll have to work harder, join additional courses and learn to code properly.

If you're not planning on becoming a Software Developer, but just fascinated with the IT Industry, then opt for MBA in Information Technology.

If you have lost interest in the IT world after completing BCA, then opt for MBA.

Now, the truth. There is absolutely no point in pursuing a course in MBA from any random college or university. If you want to make it big, then join anyone of the most reputed Business Schools (preferably in the Top 10 list) by cracking their Entrance Exams and excel in the subjects there to make your way into interviews for jobs that pay you more than you what you'd need. You'll have to study and work hard for two years. Getting a MBA degree from any random college with average marks will land you a job of a telemarketer or salesman or somebody's assistant or something like that unless you get some recommendations from someone in the big league.

MCA is more skill based, if you manage to score really good at the core/main subjects and score just good enough in other subjects in MCA and impress your interviewers with your programming skills, then you can get into any company that recruits freshers. Initially you might feel that what you're earning as a developer is less but that's just because you still have the label "FRESHER" pasted on you. The salary perks of developers are huge. If you work right, then with the right amount of experience and added knowledge, you could be earning a 6-figure salary per month after few years.

But MBA is skill-based as well as work-based. The course duration is less when compared to MCA, but the amount of work is more, more than you can imagine. You must have heard about students who pass out from IIM or SRM or VIT earning 80,000 or 1lac per month in their first job. Well, they don't earn for nothing, they are actually skilled and smart enough to earn that amount, it's like no pain no gain situation here, even if you're god-gifted. So if you work hard and do the right things, then you could fetch a job that gives 7-figure CTC from the beginning.

Although many have opted for MBA even after completing MCA and becoming developers 'coz let's face it, at some point, people do feel like becoming a manager . Others stay true to their dream and remain developers and keep enjoying the perks and pay-hikes.

So decide wisely. There's no turning back once you have completed the course. 2/3 years is a long time and too valuable to be wasted on the wrong course.
