JEE Mains and NEST are completely different exams.

• JEE Mains is conducted for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs in addition to many other colleges that accept JEE Mains score. It also acts as the first step for admission to IITs. JEE Mains is conducted for admission to B.Tech courses of the above mentioned colleges.
• NEST is conducted jointly by National Institute of Science Education and Research,Bhubaneshwar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences , Mumbai for admission to integrated M.Sc. courses offered by these institutes. This exam is more for research orientd peoople.

So, the two exams are totally different and cannot be compared. Both are good in their own right.

As per your question,It all depends upon the way you think . Nest is the gateway through which you get selected to some the best research oriented institutions of india well some people might think this field has no money or very less money.

but I will not disagree with this point as in india competition is always high and people are very competitive for earning money but I will say that earning money is directly proportional to your hard work and dedication and in this field it is always that you will be get better earning for the amount of hard
work you did in this field as compared to other fields.

I think both has equal importance.
