Dear student

There are many species of honey bees present all over the world such as, Apis dorsata, Apis cerana, Apis mellifera, etc., But in india, widely used species for apiculture is Apis indica. It is a subspecies of Asiatic honey bee and is called Indian honey bee. It is most widely cultured in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand etc., It is the most ideal species to grow in these countries due to its relatively non- agressive and rare swarming behaviour. They can colonies temperate or mountain areas potentially and survive cold and long winters. Colonies contain only few 1000 workers which is better as compared to huge numbers in European honey bees. They are the best pollinators for coconut palm usually. Thus, they have alot more benefits and who doesn't know the importance of honey. Hope this helps. For further information you can go through research papers available online.

All the best.
