CSE deals with hardware as well software, basically the creation of a new computer architecture or software.
Whereas IT deals with the applied part, that is working with those softwares and testing them.
Generally, IT is considered a subset of CSE and CSE graduates are given more preference when it comes to Masters.
Thus, the cut offs for CSE are higher than those for IT.
