Dear Aspirant, branch should be chosen as per the interest. Both the fields are good in their own respect. IT is similiar to CSE, if you're interested in the upcoming fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning or want to pursue career as developer, tester etc. Go for IT. Otherwise if you have the interest of exploring circuits and semiconductors you can go for electronics. In this VLSI, Embedded systems, Communication etc are booming career options. There is an add on advantage that if you brush your coding skills an ECE engineer can work in IT company as well. So ECE student can work in core IT sector but IT student would face certain difficulties.

It totally depends on your interest and skills. If you find IT more interesting then go for it. You can get good placements i both the branches.

Nowadays there is an incresing trend of masses going for IT and it is generally the subject with highest packages in placement but ECE is great too.

It also depends on the college in question and the faculty of that department.

If the faculty is good for ECE then you can surely opt for it.
