Both Institutes are entirely different from each other.

NID is a premium Design institute, offering B.Des and M.Des degree courses and

NIFT is a premium Fashion Design and Management institute, offering Diploma and Degree in B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.Tech abd MFM degree courses.

Their courses are different from each other, except few like Textile design.

NID courses are focused on particulars but NIFT courses covered broader study of any field.

NID courses will lead you to a specific job, but NIFT can help you to choose multiple job options.

NID has limited seats of 15 in most of their courses in 3 centers, but

NIFT is having minimum 30 seats in all of their courses in 15 centers (presently 15).

Now last but the major difference is the fees, NIFT avg. fees is 8090 Thousands Rupees per semester (for Indian resident), and

NID avg. fees is double of NIFT per semester, varying center to center.

NID is best. But if you are going for the streams like fashion design, fashion communication etc then without a doubt go for nift delhi.

NIFT- you get your specialisation in round off apparel design (knitwear, fashion, leather, textile). There are other courses like fashion communication, accessories design and Bachelors in fashion technology (garment manufacturing). Duration- 4years

NID- Gives you courses which are not apparel but are completely different (say techno sorts) design courses (graphic, film and video, furniture, product, transport, interaction etc). There is also apparel, accessories and textile here. Duration- 4and half years.

For masters PG

NIFT- offers you courses which are pretty much like MBA. But again related to fashion design. There are also courses in design. But not much. Duration-2years

NID- has masters courses for all their programs. All courses mentioned above for UG NID. Duration-2and half years.

*Life for UG is almost same both the places.. but yes NID has more freedom and better hostels. Better food than NIFT atleast. Culturaly both are almost same.. there l be a few points more to NID and their teaching techniques, also there is less pressure at NID than NIFT. And it's worth. No work is no less its same both the places but yes pressure is less*

Hostels are provided for all UGs both the places. (Not for boys in NIFT). And for PGs it varies from place to place.

*in any case NID graduates and post-graduates have better start for earning than NIFTs*
