Both the branches are good with their own importance.
ECE has much wider scope and easier life as compared to Mechanical engineering.Rest it totally depends on you,if you are more into machines,prefer mechanical.

You can even get placed in the IT companies irrespective of branch,just that your coding skills should be good,
Rest it is totally upto your interest
