White revolution, also known as Operation Flood, intended to make India self sufficient in milk production. It linked village milk producer's cooperatives to consumers. The initiative resulted in making India one of the largest producer of milk, in the world.

The process included adoption of new methods for animal husbandry and alteration in the composition of feed ingredients in different proportions.

Dr Verghese Kurien is the father of White Revolution/ Operation Flood.
