Hello Vivek,

It's not entirely clear as to when people started using chemistry but the first people to record their studies were the ancient Greeks. Ancient Greek scientists are known for conjuring up with the idea of elements as well as early models of the atom. Unfortunately, the limitations of their technology kept them from getting an accurate idea of what these elements were and what atoms really looked like.

The Middle Ages saw chemistry as a mystical pseudo-science performed by alchemists whose goal was to turn cheap metals such as lead into gold using mysterious chemical processes.

The first modern chemist happened to be Robert Boyle (1627-1691). Though most famous for his work with gases, Boyle was also the first to disagree with the Greek idea of four elements.

Hope this helps you. We wish you the best for your future endeavours!

Regards
