Dear aspirant,

NEET or National eligibility entrance test has several rules and regulation to prevent any sort of misdeeds during  the examinations. As a result the application process is lengthy and require a lot of time. The thumb impression is one of the important elements of applying students. It gives individual identity and prevents any kind of fraud during exams. Along with the application fingerprint a student must register her/his fingerprint on the OMR sheet too. It is basically taken to mark the actual attendance of the student.

In several cases, a different person sits for the exam in the name of the person in the application. To prevent such frauds National testing agency has introduced the registration of fingerprints on the OMR. While checking the OMR sheets the fingerprint is matched with the one registered in the application.

Hello Aspirant,

They're taken because of security purpose through which they can ensure that the applied candidate and the appearing Candidate were same .yes it's checked by my machine and in case of mismatch omr get cancelled.

Thank you

My invigilator made me do an impression sideways on an already done impression. Would that be a problem? And how can omr machine check signatures which would mean installing every candidate s signature on the machine? Which would amount to 16 lakhs signatures

Kshitij Hello aspirant,
If impression is made on a different side then it wont cause any problem as the whole scanning thing is done on machine.
Yes, that is possible. The signature that is entered during the NEET exam form fill up is compared with the one entered in the exam hall.

Shrestha Sil The invigilator made me redo my thumb impression on already done one sideways which caused them to overlap so there wouldn't be a problem right?

Kshitij Hope for the positive. We're not sure too. An overlapping maybe cause error or confused the machine

Kshitij I just checked a case where in a centre ink wasn't available for thumb print so they just signed in that place clearly showing that its not that important

Kshitij My thumb impression isn't totally vertical, but is tilted. Will that be a problem?
