Dear Akansha, there are 20 IIMs in India. And all of them conduct their admissions through CAT score. Not completely via CAT score but considering other factors like Academic profile, Work experience, Diversity Factor, etc. And there are more than 1000 institutions that participate in accepting CAT score. With such wide acceptance, CAT must be something different than  the rest of the entrance examimations. Well, yes because CAT exam doesnt test you on your previous Academic credentials but on your capability to dwell in the Management world where adaptability, effective communication, thinking better and faster are important. Thats the reason CAT doesnt have sections that test your knowledge in Physics, Chemistry or any other core subjects that you must have studied in Graduation. CAT has sections like Quantitative Ability,  Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. If MBA is about Management and Business Administration, CAT fits the bill to test your readiness to enter that world.
