GMC Srinagar is a government medical college which comes under University of Sikkim and is guided under it.

SKIMS is a semi autonomous deemed University because it functions alone and is not affiliated to any other university and has one medical college affiliated to SKIMS.

SKIMS is a high grade university with great facilities and infrastructure with all sort of various medical courses ranging from UG(MBBS) to PG(PhD, MD, MS, DM, Mach) to B.Sc and M.Sc in lab sciences and and other medical technology related sciences to nursing studies as well.
