Yes it is compulsory for you to take an elective subject in Christ.

This is a UGC norm and every university and college must follow those rules.An additional language subject is mandatory along with English.Your subjects such as Hindi,Urdu,Tamil,Telugu,Kannada,Sanskrit,French(any one) is required. If you are very much unfamiliar to these languages then there is a separate additional English paper which is called as Additional English-AE131 is also available.

Your subjects which you study contains credits.Some subjects are given below which contains its full credits:-

1. Psychology - 4 credits
2. Economics - 4 credits
3. Sociology - 4 credits
4. English - 3 credits.
5. Additional language - 3 credits (Tamil/telugu/kannada/hindi/sanskrit/french)
6. Holistic Education(Compulsory) - 1 credit

Along with these courses you must have an open elective which is the compulsory one.One must complete 2 open electives in 4 semesters.

This all stated above is mandatory for UG Students.
