Two Uses

Baking: It reacts with acids (like in buttermilk or vinegar) to produce carbon dioxide gas, which makes cakes, bread, and other baked items rise and become light and spongy.

Antacid: It neutralizes excess stomach acid, providing relief from indigestion and heartburn.
