Chartered Accountant
Hello,
Yes,any student from any stream can take up CA course for their study. Since you are a science student that too having biology as your combination, make sure you put a little more effort than the other students. Commerce students have the basics of accounting in their syllabus in 11th and 12th which helps them to understand and study accounts in CA foundation. Since you lack that knowledge, make sure you study the basics of accounts either from a commerce student or from a private tutor. As far as other subjects are concerned you needn't worry. You can pick up as soon as CA foundation coaching starts.
I hope this helps .
All the best!

Keep in mind that you do not need to go so hard on yourself. I understand that the concept of gap years especially in a country like India is a very daunting option and there is some fear attached to it. But this stigma does not make any sense, especially in your case. The IPCC is a difficult examination and thousands of people give it and fail, they also fail repeatedly. This has no effect on your professional life. The only effect is that you have lost time and can not become a CA, until you pass the required IPCC exams.
But you have now got admitted into a college to complete your MBA. Each college has a standard and a set of criterias to accept students. Since you have got into this college, it means you meet the standards for this college. You have completed one step towards securing a placement. But now the more important part is getting good grades in your college examinations. You will have to work hard for any course, not just MBA. It is a challenging course, but if you study and show dedication, you are bound to get good grades which are the first thing employers consider when you apply for a job during placements. Stay proactive in being updated, take diploma courses in relevant courses of marketing and other business subjects, do internships during your vacations, write research papers on relevant topics. This will help you become a unique student with a unique and valuable set of skills that attract employers to you.
If your interviewers ask you about your gap year, explain to them that you are a dedicated and hard working person who wanted to ensure you gave the exam your best shot. Unfortunately, it did not work out but you learnt a lot from that experience. They will appreciate the honesty and positivity. A lot of MBA students have gap years and it does not matter as many of them work before doing their MBA or attempt competitive exams during this time. It is all part and parcel of pursuing your education. Do not worry about it.

Dear Rugved, IPMAT is for admission into 5 year Integrated Program in Management. This is a Management course where in you will learn subjects like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Psychology, Humanities, Sociology, Political Science, etc. Whereas CA is a Professional course. While there is no specific stream that you need to study to be eligible for appearing for Foundation, Intermediate and Final, both these courses are Appkes and Oranges. Its like trying to sail on 2 ships at the same time. CA needs mandatory articleship and practixlcal training which means for those months you cannot attend your regular college. If you really want to becone a CA, instead of appearing for IPMAT and struggling to manage, you can pursue CA.
