My jee mains 2025 CRL rank is 332172 and EWS rank in 46830 ...can I get Government engineering college for Computer Science Branch...or CS allied branches..???? Which counselling should I appear in to get a government enhineering college..???

kumardurgesh1802 22nd Apr, 2025

Hello Manashvi,

With a CRL rank of 332,172 and an EWS rank of 46,830 , it will be quite challenging to get into top government engineering colleges like NITs or IIITs for the Computer Science (CS) or CS allied branches in the JEE Mains counselling process.

Here are the key points:

  1. NITs and IIITs :

    • For Computer Science and related branches (like IT ), the cut-offs are usually quite high, especially in the top NITs and IIITs . Based on your rank, you may not be able to secure a seat in these top-tier institutes.

    • You may still have a chance in lower-tier NITs or state-based engineering colleges under the EWS quota . But the CSE or IT branches may still be difficult to get.

  2. Government Colleges via State Counselling :

    • Since you belong to EWS , you should also consider the State-level counselling (e.g., UPSEE for Uttar Pradesh, AP EAMCET for Andhra Pradesh, or MH CET for Maharashtra). These state-level exams often have lower cut-offs, and you may have better chances in the CS allied branches like Information Technology , Software Engineering , or Electronics .

    • Some state engineering colleges might have less competitive cut-offs than the NITs/IIITs, making them a better option for you.

  3. Counselling Process :

    • JOSAA Counselling : You will need to participate in JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes).

    • State Counselling : Additionally, you should also appear in state-based counselling for local government engineering colleges, as they may have different cut-offs and quota systems.

  4. Branch Alternatives :

    • If Computer Science is your primary goal, you can look for allied branches like Information Technology (IT) , Software Engineering , or Electronics and Communication that may have lower cut-offs.

Provide recommendation for ramk 140000. Preference is computer science

SUKRITI GUPTA 24th Apr, 2025

With a JEE Main rank of 140,000, securing a Computer Science seat in the top National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) is generally challenging. However, there are still potential avenues you can explore to pursue your preference for Computer Science.

One option is to consider the newer NITs and IIITs . These institutes might have slightly lower cutoffs compared to the more established ones, and there could be a possibility of securing a seat in Computer Science or related branches like Information Technology or Software Engineering. It's advisable to check the specific closing ranks for these institutes in the previous years to get an idea of your chances. Keep an eye on the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling process and the cutoffs released for each round.

Another approach is to look at state government engineering colleges . Many of these colleges accept JEE Main scores, and their cutoffs might be more favorable for your rank, especially for Computer Science and allied fields. You should research good state-level engineering colleges in your state (West Bengal) and nearby regions and explore their admission criteria and previous year's closing ranks. Participating in the state-level counseling process is crucial here.

Private engineering colleges with a good reputation for Computer Science can also be an option. Some well-known private institutions like VIT, SRM, BITS (if you have appeared for their entrance exams), and others might have admission possibilities for your rank range, although it's essential to check their specific admission processes and fee structures. They often have their own entrance exams or consider JEE Main ranks for admission.

Furthermore, consider exploring related branches such as Information Technology, Software Engineering, or even Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a minor in Computer Science, if available in certain colleges. These programs often have significant overlap with Computer Science and can provide a strong foundation for a career in the tech industry.

It is highly recommended to use JEE Main college predictor tools available online by Careers360. https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=jee-main-cp-lp&ici=search-section_c360-home These tools take your rank and preferences to suggest a list of colleges where you might have a chance of admission. Additionally, actively participate in the counseling processes, both at the national (JoSAA/CSAB) and state levels, and be prepared to explore all available options based on the real-time cutoff trends.

Provide recommendation for ramk 140000. Preference is computer science

Prachi Kumari 20th Apr, 2025

Hello,

With a JEE Main rank of 140,000, it's unlikely to get a Computer Science seat in top NITs or IITs, but there are still a few options to consider:

  1. State Government Colleges: Many state engineering colleges may have seats available for candidates with a higher rank, especially in the later rounds of counseling.

  2. Private Engineering Colleges: Consider applying to private institutions with a good reputation in computer science, like BITS, VIT, SRM, or LPU. These colleges often have their own entrance exams, and you may have a good chance in their counseling process.

  3. Backup Options: If Computer Science is your first preference, try opting for related branches like Information Technology or Software Engineering in some colleges that offer these as alternatives.

Make sure to also look into college-specific counseling processes to see if there are any opportunities for you to get a seat.

Hope it helps !

Can i get textile engineering. ..branch...after completing my diploma in computer technology. ..im always into desingns n fashion ...so is their n any branch related to this

Saurabh Yadav 19th Apr, 2025

Hii,

Once you have completed your Diploma in Computer Technology, you can surely opt for Textile Engineering or other related disciplines that match your interest in designs and fashion. Your computer technology background is a good starting point, as most textile and fashion courses include software usage for designing clothes and fabrics. Disciplines such as Textile Engineering, Textile Design, or Fashion Technology are ideal for you since they combine technical expertise with creativity, allowing you to pursue your passion for fashion using your computer skills.

Textile Engineering involves producing fabrics, from selecting fibers to designing final products such as clothes or even intelligent fabrics with sensors. If you are more interested in the artistic side, Textile Design involves creating patterns and textures for cloth, something that is perfect for a design lover. Fashion Technology is also a good one, where you get to learn to design clothes and work with technology such as 3D printing in fashion. Fashion Design is also excellent, where you get to design clothes and accessories and work with fabric. Your computer knowledge will be of great help, particularly in design software such as CAD, which is very common in these disciplines.

For a start, search for colleges that provide a Diploma in Textile Design, Fashion Technology, or a B.Tech in Textile Engineering. Some colleges allow diploma holders to join straight away, but others may demand an entrance exam such as LEET for B.Tech programs. Colleges such as NIFT, IIT Delhi, or Anna University provide these courses, and you may inquire with them to verify admission information. If you're not sure if you can handle a long course, you may attempt a short 6-month or 1-year certificate in Textile Design or Fashion Design to dip your feet in. Your computer technology diploma provides you with an advantage, particularly for digital design or smart textiles, and a CAD crash course would set you up even better
