1. Basic Eligibility You need to pass class 10 (matriculation) from a recognized board with at least 50% marks. Having a science background with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Maths helps a lot. If you’re from a reserved category, you might get some relaxation.
2. Entrance Exams (depends on state) Most states conduct entrance tests for diploma admissions. For example:
AP POLYCET for Andhra Pradesh
TS POLYCET for Telangana
OJEE , WBJEE , etc. for other states
So if you're from Andhra, then you’ll need to appear for AP POLYCET .
3. Admission Process in AP
First, apply for AP POLYCET and appear in the exam.
After results, take part in counselling where you’ll choose your preferred college based on your rank.
Some popular colleges in AP offering this diploma are:
Govt Polytechnic, Gudur
Loyola Polytechnic, Pulivendula
Govt Polytechnic, Narsipatnam
4. Direct Admission (Private Colleges) Some private colleges offer direct admission without any entrance exam. In that case, you just fill out the form, submit your documents, and pay the fees.
5. Lateral Entry (For 2nd Year Admission) If you’ve already done 12th with PCM or completed ITI , then you might be eligible for lateral entry straight into the second year in most of institutes.
If you passed Class 12 in 2025 and are now appearing for improvement as a private candidate in 2026, then for any official forms or applications, your name of institution will remain the same school from which you originally passed in 2025, and the address should also be that of the same school.
Even though you are appearing privately in 2026, your original passing record is from your 2025 school, so that’s what you need to mention. The private improvement attempt doesn’t change your original school name or address.

Hello Prisha
As you have compartment in Mathematics and you wish to change your stream to Humanities you have 2 options from here on:
1. You could try to study and clear your compartment of Mathematics.
2. You can change your stream to Humanities but you will need to repeat from Class 11th so you will need 2 years from now to clear Class 12th.
My personal suggestion will be to choose Option 1. Trust me I have dealt with this feeling myself and wanted to choose Option 2 but I worked hard and cleared my exams. I was scared not only in Mathematics but Physics, Chemistry and even Computer Science. At last, it's on you what you want to choose.
Thank You!

For the top 20 percentile eligibility in JOSAA counselling, the category that is used is based on what you declare in your JEE Mains application and for which you provide a valid certificate during document verification not necessarily the one mentioned in your board exam. Since you're from Maharashtra and appeared under SEBC, you’ll be treated as a General category candidate unless you have a valid central OBC NCL certificate.
So for JOSAA, they’ll consider your category only if it’s valid under the central category list and matches what you declared in JEE Mains along with the correct certificate. The SEBC category used in the MH board won’t be considered by JOSAA unless it overlaps with central OBC NCL.
