how many seats are there for preparatory course in iit? and what r the chances of getting selected next year??

snehal ranjan 24th Jan, 2020

there are almost 185 seats present in preparatory course in iit. The joint Admission Committee finally decides the admission of these students. In this programme have to undergo courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English for two semesters and successfully complete the courses. A candidate must have to fulfil the all the criteria mentioned in jee committee.therefore, the seats are very limited and also the selection can't be assured.

Sir I got 96.0365%tile in jee paper 2 for B.arch and I am from OBC category. can I get admission in nit

Aman Singh 24th Jan, 2020

Your percentile is 96.035 in JEE paper 2 . So, you can calculate your rank by using the formula given below :

(100 - your total score) X 112679 /100

According to your percentile , your rank is between 4000-4500.

The last year cutoff for B Arch for 2019-2020 for NIT's was :

National Institute of Technology, Calicut - 693

National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur - 24979

National Institute of Technology, Patna - 3900

National Institute of Technology, Bhopal -  3739

For detailed cutoff , you can visit the below link :

How many students are selected for Calicut nit for b arch

Muskan Gupta 24th Jan, 2020

Hi Devadathan

It varies on many factors. There are different seats for different categories. You can check on the respective website about the same.

You can refer to the link below :

All the best !!!

Hope it helps :)

I got 72 percentile in jee mains 2020 Im from Telangana I belong to obc do I have any chance to get seat in govt college or any other

The cutoff of last year for inclusion in various rank lists were as follows-
Common Rank List-89.7548849
Gen EWS-78.2174869
OBC NCL-74.3166557
Now since you have 72 percentile and you belong from obc category there is a slight chance of yours qualifying jee mains which is accepted by a lot of government funded technical Institutes(GFTI's) .

Considering this fact you might not be able to secure admission in government colleges via jee mains,
You now have two options either to improve your performance in jee mains in April or to secure a good rank in TS EAMCET 2020 (to get admission in your state's government colleges).

For predicion of which NIT or other GFTIs you may get on the basis of this result please use CAREER360's jee mains college predictor at-

Best of luck for your future.
Thanks and regards

How many general students are selected for nit from paper 2

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 24th Jan, 2020

see cutoff score and closing rank changes years to year, and it depends on various factors like number of participants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix etc. however if you have more than 93 percentile in jee main paper 2, tyou have decent chances for nits.

You may use career 360 college predictor tool to know your predictable colleges

I got 78.37 percentile in jee mains general category maharashtra can I get any nit or psg college coimbatore

Nikhitha Sai 24th Jan, 2020
Hi aspirant. So first, calculate the rank for your score.
Rank can be calculated like this
(100- your total score)*112679/100
Where 100 is your total percentile score is the percentage of people ahead of you
112679 are the number of candidates appeared for january exam. So through this your rank can be known and refer to the previous year college admissions statistics so that you would know which nit you would be getting.
I would put the links here for the approximate rank prediction and college prediction.
And also, I would post the cut offs last year. So that you would get an idea.
Regarding psg,  you might get but not be able to get a desired branch .
Here is the rank predictor
Here is cut off for different colleges (last year)
